TORK: A NEW HARD-KILL SYSTEM AGAINST TORPEDOES BY ASELSAN IN IDEF-2015

A new hard-kill self-defense system against torpedoes will be presented by the Turkish defense industry Aselsan for the first time at the International Defense Industry Fair IDEF-15, in Istanbul Turkey.

The new hard-kill self-defense system is called TORK and it can be used by submarines and surface vessels. The most effective defense against a possible torpedo threat faced by submarines and surface vessels is provided by the joint use of Soft-Kill and Hard-Kill methods.

The Turkish system is basically a small torpedo which is capable of destroying acoustic-guided, wire-guided, unguided and slipstream-guided torpedoes that are aimed at surface vessels or submarines.

After TORK is launched it can measure the distance and the direction of the threats that are approaching the surface vessels or the submarines. When the anti-torpedo system approaches the threat it detonates and deactivates the enemy torpedo at a long distance from the friendly surface vessel or submarine
