EGYPT SOON TO RECEIVE ITS FIRST KA-52 COMBAT HELICOPTERS FROM RUSSIA

Egypt’s military is to receive its first Ka-52 combat helicopters in the third quarter of 2017.

In an interview with Russian news agency TASS, Russian Helicopters subsidiary Progress Arsenyev Aviation Company’s CEO Andrei Boginsky said the first batch of the Ka-52 reconnaissance/attack helicopters (also known by the NATO reporting name Hokum-B), would be delivered before the end of 2017.

The Egyptian Defence Forces has ordered 46 Kamov Ka-52 helicopters in 2015. The Ka-52 Alligator is a next-generation reconnaissance and combat helicopter designed to destroy tanks, armoured and non-armoured ground targets, and enemy troops and helicopters both on the front line and in tactical reserves. The helicopter can operate around the clock and in all weathers. The Ka-52 can provide target acquisition and designation for helicopter teams and ground troop command and control.
