UPBS – University of Plymouth Business Society – Summer Ball review

I must make a special mention to Suzanne Hawkins who has been marvellous in working with us to organise it and getting everything perfect (literally). Suzanne has gone above and beyond in order to make the Summer Ball such as success, and not only has Suzanne made us as a committee happy, but also the students at the Business School who attended the Business Summer Ball.

As Vice President of the Business Society this year and also having been heavily involved in Enactus, one of my main focuses has not only been working efficiently as a team, but also ensure that we help to enhance the university experience for students at Plymouth University. By this we have organised events in which we wish to give them opportunities to have an enjoyable time with other business students.

The University of Plymouth Business 1920s Summer Ball 2017 was a moment when 185 Business students came together to celebrate the end of then academic year, and for some, the end of their journey with Plymouth before returning for graduation in September. The coaches departed from North Hill, bringing the students to the extravagant countryside venue, Elfordleigh Hotel where they were greeted with a chilled, refreshing beverage. The photographer captured precious moments of smiles, laughter and the joy of the students being able to relax and have an enjoyable time whilst absorbing the sunshine we were very lucky to of had for a second year running. On entering the beautifully decorated room, students gasped ‘wow’ and ‘oh my’- Suzanne and the events management team had done an amazing job with beautifully decorating tables, sweet table and the moodpboard with the tables and tables names. It exceeded expectations! After welcoming the guests, food was to follow with awards for both sports teams and finally the start to the entertainment! We were lucky to have had the University of Plymouth Big Band performing along with a Casino table and a Photo Booth. The night was very much enjoyable and students were actually reluctant to get onto the coaches home! The atmosphere was perfect and we could not have wished for a better evening than what was had. It has been a pleasure to host the University of Plymouth Summer Ball this year, and hopefully continued to fulfil our aim of enhancing student experience.

Any students are welcome to join the University of Plymouth Business Society and we plan to continue to help enhance students’ experience in the forthcoming years.

Best Wishes,

Emily Savery

Vice President of UPBS
