Updates: The first UK Mac walk-in Service Desk for Higher Education

Following on from the previous blog, this is an update to show where we are currently at with the creation of the new Service Bar.

The creation of the Service Bar has now begun and Nicholas has started working on the development of the bar. In order to help promote the new and upcoming changes there will be a stand located in the Roland Levinsky Building 1st floor to provide staff & students information on what to expect from the new Service Bar.

The stand will be bright and eye catching, including images of the design, a short brief about the design and launch dates, contact details for Amsys will also be provided.

In addition to this progress the competition for the naming of the bar has now closed. A panel of representatives from External Relations, Students Union, Arts & Science & Environment met to discuss the entries and select two names that would be submitted to John Wright, Adrian Hollister & Dafyyd Moore.

The two names put forward to John, Adrian & Dafyyd were; ‘Ingenio Bar’ & ‘The Core’, Adrian, John & Dafyyd all agreed with the panel’s preference of ‘The Core’.

There were four students who suggested ‘The Core’ and Amsys has agreed to provide all four students with an iPod Nano, which they will receive at the launch evening.

Now that we have a name and a design concept, we will meet with some design students in order to get a logo created for the bar and we can start the branding elements of the publication.

We are pleased to announce that Wendy Purcell has confirmed her attendance and will be giving a short speech at the launch evening.

Regular updates will be made to the blog, watch this space!
