Architectural Classification: Technology \ Application
Standard Specification
This standard covers the suite of software applications that together can be categorised as productivity enablers. These applications are used in the general day-to-day operations of any modern IT enabled organisation and must interact with client, server, storage and presentation systems approved for use within Plymouth University; these productivity applications include word processor, spread sheet, email, presentation and collaboration client software.
Productivity suites consist of the software component and the platform hardware on which the application is hosted (where the application is installed on a consuming end-point, that relationship is for reference purposes only). This standard is intended to provide guidance when selecting an productivity application, application suite or platform for University operations and to access and manipulate corporate data and information in a supportable and sustainable way or when upgrading productivity systems as part of refresh cycles. It must not be used to bypass any planning and support analysis necessary to ensure client systems are capable of meeting the requirements of the user community.
