EA-STD-038 Secure Data Destruction

Architectural Classification

Technology \ Security \ Data

Standard Specification

A secure data destruction service is designed to ensure that confidential, sensitive or personal data can be removed from systems without the ability to recreate or restore the data in any way, shape or form. For secure digital data destruction there are a few options, either the physical destruction of the hardware itself, the de-gaussing of any magnetic media or the file and folder shredding technologies that can work to industry and government standards. Optical media, such as CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays as with paper based media should be shredded, with the latter being cross-cut shred in preference or incinerated, non-confidential paper information can be recycled normally.
