My career started with my industrial placement here in the City of Plymouth as a Trainee Systems Analyst for Plymouth City Council. I was able to quickly gain sponsorship of my final year project in the use of sustainable IT; also gaining employment with them during my final year of study. Upon graduation, I was promoted to Senior Systems Analyst and held several positions thereafter; in change management, project and programme management, requirements management and finally in business relationship and supplier management – where I was responsible for the day-to-day business relationship and contract for a circa £7M per annum shared IT service on behalf of the Council.
I have enjoyed returning to the University and have found it fascinating being on the other side. I couldn’t, as a student, have imagined the complexities that go in to governing and operating such an organisation and feel it a privilege to support my current account sets: Talent and Organisational Development, Finance and Sustainability and Research and Innovation, as their IT Business Partner.
Some of my key achievements include:
* The implementation of business relationship, service and contract management
* Establishing a governance framework for high-value IT investment
* Savings of circa £100,000 through making better use of assets
I am a member of the Smart Cities Working Group and will be closely supporting Digital Plymouth over the coming year.
