Tash Harden graduated with a BSc (Hons) in MediaLab Arts from the School of Computing, Plymouth University in 2001. Following university, Tash experienced both blue chip (Nortel Networks, Shell) and SME culture (ICO3 Ltd, Tell Communications) in multimedia and web development positions.
She joined Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry’s IT team in 2003 as an MLE Assistant and quickly took on additional responsibilities, eventually leading the team which ran all web services on behalf of the College. This included responsibility for all teaching, learning and assessment systems, such as their implementation of Blackboard (eventually leading its review and eventual migration to Plymouth University’s SharePoint), the Clinical Log Book and PCMD’s externally facing website. During her time at PCMD, Tash chaired the UK Blackboard Content System User Group, was an active member of the Blackboard UK User Group and presented regularly at associated conferences such as ALT-C, Blackboard World: Europe and Blackboard UK User conference.
In August 2012, Tash became a TIS Business Partner for Plymouth University (PU). Initially covering PU PSMD, she has since formed relationships across the institution, representing areas such as the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, External Relations, Research & Innovation, Teaching & Learning Support, Academic Partnerships and UPSU. Cross-university projects that Tash has been involved in include the NSS, HEAR, QAA and REF2015.
Tash has led on many successful initiatives for her areas including:
- Mac as a Service: Sourcing and negotiating a tailored IT service to meet the Institute of Educations business needs
- The Core: Led project to design, develop and install a walk-in Mac support bar within RLB, partnering with Faculty of Arts students
- Plymouth Connect: Brokering in IT where necessary for the Development Office to enhance the university’s employability agenda.
- Festival of Code: Partnering with external suppliers to ensure a creative solution for no budget.
Tash also co-chairs the Request Allocation Group within TIS, the method in which items of work get progressed within TIS. She is a member of ALT, has completed Prince 2 awareness training, and is about to undertake a foundation qualification with the Business Relationship Management Institute.
Personality & Interests
Tash has an engaging, optimistic, approachable personality. She is a good communicator, selfless and authentic. Highly motivated and passionate, Tash is a self-confident team player and a good problem solver.
Tash has two children and spends any time that she is not running around after them trying desperately to get some “me” time… ! She loves yoga classes and visiting the spa, tolerates the occasional visit to the gym, but often slopes off to meet with friends instead.
