A spoofed email from ‘email@example.com‘ started circulating at a mass rate on Saturday 1st April attempting to trick the user into entering their University email account details. Both the sender account and link are FAKE and must be avoided.
NOTE: Even though spoofed emails are harder to identify as spam, always look out for grammar/spelling mistakes, such as “by your email account and you‘r’ email needs”. Another thing to look out for is the visuals on the email. As you can see, the font and overall style of the email doesn’t have the same feel as legitimate University emails. Take a look at the ‘Update Here’ button, looks poorly done and unprofessional, something the University wouldn’t do. Lastly but not least check the destination of the button link, and in this case you can clearly see its an non University link which is something the University would never do.
