Nominees Hillary Clinton (Democrat) and Donald Trump (Republican) attract partisan admiration and derision in almost equal measure and their emergence starkly illustrates the polarisation of American politics.<\/p>\n<p>Clinton, who would become the first female president, is seen by many as untrustworthy, while controversies about Trump\u2019s xenophobia, misogyny and inconsistency have stalked his candidacy without diminishing his appeal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/simon-topping\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Simon Topping<\/a> (Associate Professor in United States History), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/harry-bennett\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Harry Bennett<\/a> (Reader in History) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/david-brockington\" target=\"_blank\">Dr David Brockington<\/a> (Lecturer in Politics and Social Science Methods)\u00a0discuss the election and the implications of either a Clinton or a Trump presidency on the very day of the election.\u00a0They are also writing <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/americadecides\/2016\/10\/12\/hello-world\/\" target=\"_blank\">a blog<\/a> with their commentary\u00a0in the run up to the elections.<\/p>\n<p><b>Ticket information<\/b>: \u00a36\/\u00a34.20.
