Launching Plymouth History Month, it showcases an eclectic blend of nationally and internationally renowned writers and artists, alongside a rich community programme coordinated by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wonderzoo.org\/\">WonderZoo<\/a>, involving literary groups from across the city and region, and the announcement of the 2017 Plymouth Mayflower Young City Laureate.<\/p>\n<div>The Festival includes celebrated film director and screenwriter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/whats-on\/in-conversation-with-peter-greenaway\">Peter Greenaway<\/a> \u2013 and his stunning film, <i><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/whats-on\/film-the-cook-the-thief-his-wife-and-her-lover-1989\">The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover<\/a><i><\/i>; highly acclaimed writer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/whats-on\/mich_le-roberts-book-reading\">Mich\u00e8le Roberts<\/a> who will introduce her new novel, <i><\/i>A Walworth Beauty<i><\/i>, set in Victorian London; international writers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/whats-on\/fereshteh-ahmadi-womens-literature-in-contemporary-iran\">Fereshteh Ahmadi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/whats-on\/irenosen-okojie-book-reading\">Irenosen Okojie<\/a>; performances from Helen Chadwick Song Theatre, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/whats-on\/joan-ellis-died-blondes\">Joan Ellis<\/a> and <i><\/i>Star Wars<i><\/i> actor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/whats-on\/michael-pennington-chekhov-in-siberia\">Michael Pennington<\/a>; workshops by Sunday Times EFG Short\u00a0Story Award creator, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/whats-on\/cathy-galvin-first-impressions\">Cathy Galvin<\/a> and\u00a0a celebration of the South West writer,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/whats-on\/charles-causley-at-100\">Charles Causley<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The programme also includes the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/whats-on\/society-for-storytelling-annual-gathering\">Society\u00a0for Storytelling\u2019s annual gathering<\/a>, bringing\u00a0professionals storytellers from across the UK\u00a0to Plymouth for a weekend of storytelling\u00a0through music, dance, interactive\u00a0workshops and talks.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Plymouth Festival of Words is a partnership between <a href=\"http:\/\/literatureworks.org.uk\/\">Literature Works<\/a>, the literature development agency for the South West, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/your-university\/peninsula-arts\">Peninsula Arts<\/a> at Plymouth University, <a href=\"https:\/\/plymhearts.org\/\">Plymouth City Council (Arts and Heritage)<\/a>, and is supported by Arts Council England.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The full programme and details of how to purchase tickets can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/campaign\/plymouth-festival-of-words\/?utm_source=Staff+bulletin+recipients&amp;utm_campaign=6c459c14cf-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_04_07&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_9712f86811-6c459c14cf-120627937\">Festival of Words<\/a> website.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Building on the success of the Plymouth International Book Festival, Plymouth Festival of Words celebrates words in all their forms including literature, poetry, theatre and more.
