Congratulations to Dr David Sergeant who has recently been awarded a 2 year AHRC Research Leadership Grant.<\/span><\/p>\n

The award is a 2 year AHRC ECR Leadership Fellowship, titled\u00a0Imagining Alternatives: Utopia, Community and the Novel,1880-2015<\/em>. The project explores how the novel has been used since the late nineteenth century to imagine better forms of community, and the problems and opportunities revealed by such attempts. Insights from this research are employed with local communities and a not-for-profit, with input from members of the Sustainability Earth Institute in Plymouth, as the utopian imagination is harnessed to help achieve positive, sustainability-related change in the present. Research arising from the Fellowship will be presented\u00a0at conferences in the UK and US and will underpin a one day research\u00a0workshop at the end of the two years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
