
{"id":721,"date":"2016-05-26T08:18:48","date_gmt":"2016-05-26T08:18:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/artsinstitute\/?p=721"},"modified":"2016-05-26T08:16:19","modified_gmt":"2016-05-26T08:16:19","slug":"721","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/artsinstitute\/2016\/05\/26\/721\/","title":{"rendered":"Arts PhD researchers win prestigious placements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two doctoral researchers in the arts at Plymouth University have been awarded prestigious placements to complement their programmes of study.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coral Manton<\/strong>\u00a0has been awarded\u00a0a placement by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bl.uk\/aboutus\/highered\/phd-placement-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\">British Library<\/a> to investigate possibilities for the PhD thesis in multimedia and non-text forms, and how a national database of UK doctoral theses can record and make accessible these non-text research outputs. Coral is located in the <a href=\"http:\/\/i-dat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">i-DAT<\/a> research group and her Director of Studies is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/mike-phillips\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Mike Phillips<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steven Paige<\/strong> has been awarded a placement at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ahrc.ac.uk\/funding\/opportunities\/current\/internationalplacementscheme\/\" target=\"_blank\">AHRC&#8217;s International Placement Scheme<\/a>.\u00a0He is\u00a0exploring\u00a0archival moving image material, both analogue and digital, as a resource for cultural learning by developing aesthetic strategies for its performative re-enactment. Steven is located in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www6.plymouth.ac.uk\/researchcover\/rcp.asp?pagetype=G&amp;page=236\" target=\"_blank\">Performance.Experience.Presence (P.E.P)<\/a> research group and his Director of Studies is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/roberta-mock\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Roberta Mock<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/artsinstitute\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2016\/05\/1200px-LOC_Main_Reading_Room_Highsmith.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-725 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/artsinstitute\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2016\/05\/1200px-LOC_Main_Reading_Room_Highsmith-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"1200px-LOC_Main_Reading_Room_Highsmith\" width=\"375\" height=\"258\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Coral and Steven are both members of\u00a0the AHRC-funded <a href=\"http:\/\/3d3research.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">3D3 Centre for Doctoral Training<\/a>. 3D3 is\u00a0a collaborative consortium &#8211; with students at Plymouth University, Falmouth University and UWE Bristol &#8211; which focuses exclusively on practice-led research in the digital arts, design and performance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two doctoral researchers in the arts at Plymouth University have been awarded prestigious placements to complement their programmes of study.
