The Dartmouth Centre for Sea Power and Strategy (DCSS) at Plymouth University, has been recently accredited by National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) to deliver the Project Griffin.
Project Griffin is the national counter terrorism awareness course for business produced by NaCTSO to protect our cities and communities from the threat of terrorism. The aim of Project Griffin is to:
- Help understand the threat from terrorism to the UK
- Guide individuals on what to do if they find themselves involved in a terrorist incident or events that led up to a planned attack
- Enable people to recognise and report suspicious activity
The DCSS at Plymouth University has also received accreditation by MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) on 7th December 2017 for our course on Proficiency in Designated Security Studies.
The aim of the MCA is to prevent the loss of life on the coast and at sea. It produces legislation and guidance on maritime matters, and provide certification to seafarers. The University of Plymouth is already an approved Department of Transport (DfT) port facility security training provider.
