Hybrid threats: old wine in new bottles?
Dr Andreas Liaropoulos, Associate Professor in Strategic and Security Studies, University of Piraeus
Date: November 16th
Time: 14:00 to 16:00
Location: (Cookworthy) CKY 408
The presentation will review the hybrid concept and discuss the conceptual ambiguity around the hybrid terminology (hybrid warfare/threats, etc). Hybrid is a popular term, but the fact that it serves as an umbrella term that encompasses and combines among others, information operations, political warfare, sabotage, economic coercion, cyber-attacks and conventional military means, raises concerns about the conceptual utility and operational value of this term. The presentation will focus on how hybrid is (mis)understood within the Western military/security community.
