The Centre for Sea Power and Strategy (CSS), in collaboration with the Royal Navy Strategic Studies Centre (RNSSC) and sponsored by BAE Systems, co-organized a workshop on the complexities of hybrid threats. The workshop focused onto the multifaceted landscape of hybrid threats in maritime and space domains, where traditional and non-traditional security risks converge. It marked the first gathering of military professionals, members of the defence and security industry, and university postgraduate and undergraduate students specialising in International Shipping, Cyber Crime, Terrorism and Security, Applied Strategy & International Security and Criminology.
The workshop was led by Dr. Fotios Moustakis, Director of the CSS, and Dr. Kevin Rowlands, Director of the RNSSC. Also contributing from the CSS were Dr. S. Karamperidis, Dr. Brendan Brookshaw, Ken Livingstone, and Dr. Sean Looney. The event fostered dialogue and knowledge exchange through brief presentations by Professor Markos Trichas and Dr. Damian Terrill of BAE Systems, Professor James Bergeron, Captain Panagiotis Tripontikas (HN) of NATO MARCOM, Professor Vasileios Syros of the United Service Institution of India, Dr Chris Lavers, Britannia Royal Naval College, University of Lincoln and Jack Sharpe, PhD student at the University of Plymouth.
