On May 17 the Russian and Chinese navies will begin ‘Naval interaction – 2015’, a naval exercise which will involve ten Russian and Chinese warships of different types.
The exercise is going to take place in the Mediterranean Sea and it will last till 21 May.
On the 14 May the Chinese Type 054A Jiangkai II frigates Linyi (547) and Weifang (550) passed through the Bosphorous and the Dardanelles, heading to the Aegean Sea in order to join the ships of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea and start the joint exercise.
Besides the Chinese ships, a Russian vessel the Samum (616), a Bora-class hoverborne guided missile corvette, passed through the Bosphorous and the Dardanelles together with the two People’s Liberation Army Navy ships.
The Russian and the Chinese naval ships have already successfully concluded the first part of the joint naval exercise in the Black Sea.
The Chinese ships stayed for almost a week in the Black Sea, visited the naval base of Novorossiysk and participated in the events devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
