RUSSIA’S COAST GUARD DETAIN 7 SHIPS OFF UKRAINE COAST IN SEA OF AZOV

Ukrainian monitoring groups have reported seven cases since the evening of Monday, July 2, when coast guards of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) detained foreign ships in the Sea of Azov south of Berdyansk, Ukraine.

“At about 20:30 Moscow time on July 2, 2018, the coast guards of the FSB of the Russian Federation detained the Turkish dry cargo vessel HALISDEMIR (IMO: 9517331), which was going from the Ukrainian city of Mariupol to Türkeli (Turkey). It was stopped at a distance of 12 nautical miles (22 km) south of the Berdyansk Spit (46°25’59” N 36°45’52” E). The detention lasted two hours from 20:30 to 22:30,” Andriy Klymenko, the head of the supervisory board at the Maidan of Foreign Affairs Foundation and the editor-in-chief of the portal BlackSeaNews, wrote on Facebook on July 3.
