It said that if it failed to secure a bigger increase in budget negotiations it would have to \u201cadjust [its] modernisation plan\u201d accordingly \u2014 meaning scrapping at least \u201cone big international arms project\u201d in 2019, \u201cas painful as that might be\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The warning follows US president Donald Trump\u2019s repeated criticism of Germany for not contributing enough to its own defence.
