Work piecing together HMS Medway will began in the same building before 2015 is out.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the River-class title, the trio are much closer to patrol ships BAE built for the Thai and Brazilian Navies than Tyne, Mersey, Severn and Clyde \u2013 although there are 28 enhancements, such as a stronger flight deck (so a Merlin can use it) and installing BAE\u2019s new command system.<\/p>\n<p>The 800 or so shipwrights and engineers involved with the trio are using lessons from the construction of blocks for carriers HMS Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales.<\/p>\n<p>And work on the three ships will act as a stepping stone towards building the Type 26s, the successors to the Type 23 frigates, which begins next year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/dcss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/10\/HMS-TRENT-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-434\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/dcss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/10\/HMS-TRENT-1.jpg\" alt=\"HMS TRENT 1\" width=\"795\" height=\"447\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/dcss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/10\/HMS-TRENT-1.jpg 795w, https:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/dcss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/10\/HMS-TRENT-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/dcss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/10\/HMS-TRENT-1-560x315.jpg 560w, https:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/dcss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/10\/HMS-TRENT-1-260x146.jpg 260w, https:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/dcss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/10\/HMS-TRENT-1-160x90.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 795px) 100vw, 795px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter whether we building one of the biggest ships we have ever built, or the smallest \u2013 pride seeps through all the team.
