The Russian navy vessels are currently sailing outside the west coast of Norway en route back north after participating the exercise Ocean Shield in the Baltic Sea.<\/p>\n

\u201cFour NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen) are announced for areas off the coast of Helgeland and Lofoten for the period August 14th to 17th,\u201d says press spokesman with the operational headquarters of the Norwegian Armed Forces, Sigurd Tonning-Olsen, in a phone interview with the Barents Observer.<\/p>\n

He says this is \u201cunusually high activity\u201d by the Russian navy.<\/p>\n

The press service of the Northern Fleet informs that two tactical groups of navy ships are formed in the North Sea and they \u201cwill continue with planned combat training missions as they are crossing the sea.\u201d<\/p>\n

Missile cruiser \u201cMarshal Ustinov\u201d, the large anti-submarine ship \u201cSeveromorsk\u201d and the rescue tug \u201cSB-406\u201d forms the first group, while the second consists of milti-purpose logistic support vessel \u201cElbrus\u201d, the rescue tug \u201cNikolay Chiker\u201d and the frigate \u201cAdmiral Gorskhov\u201d.<\/p>\n
