
{"id":2791,"date":"2013-09-30T09:18:08","date_gmt":"2013-09-30T09:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/technologyenhancedlearning.net\/?p=2791"},"modified":"2013-09-30T09:18:08","modified_gmt":"2013-09-30T09:18:08","slug":"11th-nov-faculty-of-arts-tel-showcase-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/digital-education\/11th-nov-faculty-of-arts-tel-showcase-event\/","title":{"rendered":"11th Nov: TEL Tools for Busy Academics in the Faculty of Arts &amp; Humanities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Are you&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>revisiting curriculum design?<\/li>\n<li>re-evaluating your assessment methodologies?<\/li>\n<li>needing a platform to facilitate your role as a Personal Tutor?<\/li>\n<li>wishing you were more social media savvy?<\/li>\n<li>looking for useful apps (such as a collaborative to-do list or holiday planner!)<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;or just wanting to know how to use your iPad more effectively?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We are hosting an event that can help you achieve your goals in teaching on:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Monday 11th November, \u00a0in Babbage 402, from 12 &#8211; 2pm<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Your local <a href=\"http:\/\/www1.plymouth.ac.uk\/asti\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Academic Support, Technology &amp; Innovation<\/a> (ASTI) Team consists of <a href=\"http:\/\/technologyenhancedlearning.net\/\">Learning Technologists<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/plymouth.libguides.com\/\">Information Specialists<\/a> (Librarians) and <a href=\"https:\/\/student.plymouth.ac.uk\/ithelp\/default.aspx\">Digital Skills Developers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Learning Technologists <a href=\"https:\/\/exchange.plymouth.ac.uk\/staffportalcode\/tools\/staffdetails\/PPP\/PPPDisplayTabs.aspx?id=rfreeman&amp;t=i\">Rebeccah Freeman<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/fpalmer\">Flea Palmer<\/a> (Arts) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/ebolton\">Edd Bolton<\/a> (Education) can advise about how technology can enhance learning &#8211; the focus being pedagogy.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Your Information Specialists are <a href=\"http:\/\/plymouth.libguides.com\/profile.php?uid=63877\">Amanda Russell<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/plymouth.libguides.com\/profile.php?uid=63876\">Ian Rayment<\/a> (Arts) and <a href=\"http:\/\/plymouth.libguides.com\/profile.php?uid=63242\">Julie Moody<\/a> (Education). \u00a0Not only do they teach your student about <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Information_literacy\">information literacies<\/a>, they also advise on digital and physical library resources that can support your course, such as <a href=\"http:\/\/aspireuop.wordpress.com\">Aspire <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/bobnational.net\/\">BoB<\/a>, and provide copyright advice.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Digital Skills Developers: IT training is a University-wide service for staff to make you more effective when using your computer. \u00a0During this event they will be represented by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/lmcgregor\">Liz McGregor<\/a>, who can tell you about the <a href=\"https:\/\/student.plymouth.ac.uk\/ithelp\/itsdteam\/SitePages\/Course%20Descriptions.aspx\">courses available<\/a>, one-to-one support, bespoke training and <a href=\"https:\/\/student.plymouth.ac.uk\/ithelp\/itsdteam\/SitePages\/ondemand.aspx#\">online training videos<\/a> to support your development.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">There will be opportunities to talk to our TIS Business Partner, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/nharden\">Tash Harden<\/a>, who is the liaison person between Faculty needs and the University&#8217;s technology provision. \u00a0AMSYS, who provide Apple technical support from 09:00 &#8211; 17:00 and are based on campus, and with fellow practitioners, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/swheeler\">Steve Wheeler<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/oquinlan\">Oliver Quinlan<\/a> and ADTL <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/staff\/sbutts\">Steve Butts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You can also have a play with iPads, cameras, clickers and any other tech we can get our hands on&#8230;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We&#8217;re here to support you so come along and chat with us &#8211; ideas, issues, rants and raves, we\u2019re all ears!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8230;and we&#8217;ll provide tea, coffee and cakes :o)<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Overview of Event\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>ASPIRE Reading Lists<\/li>\n<li>Box Of Broadcasts (BOB)<\/li>\n<li>PebblePad &#8211; (v. quick overview &amp; discussion of possible uses )<\/li>\n<li>Collaborating online &#8211; Google Hangouts &amp; Drive<\/li>\n<li>Try (LT) equipment &#8211; Turning Point; iPads; Android equiv.
