The internet provides a platform enabling anyone to be an author, director,\u00a0entertainer and\/ or critic. We can be who or whatever we want to be through our \u2018digital identity\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>However, just as you need to be \u2018streetwise\u2019 in the physical world, so you also need to be aware of the implications of being part of the \u2018virtual global society\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In order to best utilise opportunities offered through the web,\u00a0 students need to be able to manage their digital identity as much as they can &#8211; this includes being sensible about what information they are putting online about themselves, ensuring they are not compromising their security or future chances. They need to be able to confidently make the web work for them as they promote themselves through the various global channels available.<\/p>\n<p>myBrand\u00a0 is a collection of resources, presented as an e-portfolio (or webfolio), that aims to help students confidently promote themselves and their work online. It also contains advice about keeping safe on the web, links to help students improve their e-literacy skills and information about legalities such as copyright and accessibility. For fun, it includes links to lots of free cool tools too!
