
{"id":213,"date":"2018-08-15T09:57:35","date_gmt":"2018-08-15T09:57:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/research\/?p=213"},"modified":"2018-08-15T09:57:35","modified_gmt":"2018-08-15T09:57:35","slug":"internal-research-funding-gcrf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.plymouth.ac.uk\/research\/2018\/08\/15\/internal-research-funding-gcrf\/","title":{"rendered":"Internal Research Funding: GCRF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) is a five year, \u00a31.5 billion fund announced by the UK Government to support cutting-edge research that enables<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oecd.org\/dac\/financing-sustainable-development\/development-finance-standards\/daclist.htm\"> ODA-eligible<\/a> developing countries to addresses challenges as\u00a0laid out in the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabledevelopment.un.org\/sdgs\">UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). <\/a><\/u><\/p>\n<p>The fund supports research that is challenge-led and interdisciplinary and strengthens capacity for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>research and innovation within both the UK and developing countries<\/li>\n<li>an agile response to emergencies where there is an urgent research need<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As part of building capacity, Research England has awarded the University an annual block grant of around \u00a3347,000 which will be allocated\u00a0via an open competition. The University wants to support a diverse portfolio of research activities that will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>create equitable partnerships between researchers, practitioners and policy-makers in both developed and developing countries<\/li>\n<li>build capacity and capability to undertake research across career stages in the UK and developing countries<\/li>\n<li>build capacity and capability to create meaningful impact from research\u00a0in the UK and developing countries<\/li>\n<li>support pump-priming activities to underpin funding bids, build networks, develop relationships etc.<\/li>\n<li>support rapid-response requests and capacity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is anticipated there will be 2 rounds of funding in this academic year in September and January and projects can last from 12-24 months.<\/p>\n<p>Details of how to apply, guidelines and criteria can be found on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouth.ac.uk\/research\/support\/funding\/global-challenges-research-fund\">dedicated GCRF pages\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) is a five year, \u00a31.5 billion fund announced by the UK Government to support cutting-edge research that enables ODA-eligible developing countries to addresses challenges as\u00a0laid out in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
