8 trainees recently completed the University of Plymouth ‘Introduction to TESOL’ – a 6-week part-time course designed to introduce participants to fundamental aspects of Teaching English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL).
The course is designed to give participants an opportunity to learn the theory and practice of Communicative Language Teaching, including content related to:
- lesson planning
- setting up activities
- engaging & motivating learners
- getting students speaking
- classroom management
- pronunciation
The UoP tutors delivering the course content demonstrate key skills throughout the course, so that participants are exposed to the essential techniques of English language teaching while they are receiving the course content.
In the final week of the programme, participants get a chance to take part in a ‘micro-teaching’ activity, allowing them to experience lesson planning and teaching first hand, and providing an opportunity to apply the skills and approaches they have learnt on the course.
Participants on the recent ‘Introduction to TESOL’ all received an ‘end of course certificate’, and a number have now stated they are keen to enrol on the intensive 4-week ‘University of Plymouth Summer TESOL Course’ (03rd – 28th June), which provides participants with all the essential skills required to teach English all over the world, or to teach English language learners in the UK.
The ‘University of Plymouth Summer TESOL Course’ is accredited by the University of Plymouth and is currently available at a discounted price of £750. For more information visit the UoP TESOL page: UoP TESOL Page, or to book your place on the course click: TESOL Booking.
