Helen Bowstead (ELC) and Hannah Miles (ED) were recently invited to present the initial findings of a research project at the Jisc Student Experience Experts Group in Birmingham. Working with students from Academic Development’s pioneering peer-learning initiatives (Hello Project, PALS, Digital Student Champions and Writing Cafe Mentors), Helen and Hannah’s project aims to identify the less well-documented challenges faced by international students as they adapt to life at the university.
It was a fascinating day full of insights from across the sector that highlighted the international student experience through a digital lens. Many of the issues that impact on international students’ ability to adjust to their new teaching and learning environment were reflected in our own research.
