Oscar-nominated writer/director Sarah Polley discovers that the truth depends on who’s telling it. In questioning her own paternity she unravels the essence of family: complicated, messy and fiercely loving. Exploring the elusive nature of truth and memory, but at its core is a deeply personal film about how our narratives shape and define us as individuals and families. Polley’s documentary embraces both the political and cinematic heritage of feminism, as her mother’s story becomes the rich seam of memory that is mined.
