Hello, and welcome to the United Downs Deep Geothermal Power project team here at the Sustainable Earth Institute (SEI). We are a diverse group of researchers from various backgrounds across the social and geo sciences, who have come together to ask some big questions about what it really means for geothermal power to be a part of our society. We are one of a partnership of organisations, including the commercial partner Geothermal Engineering Ltd, and the British Geological Survey. The project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Cornwall Council.
The idea of geothermal for electricity generation in the UK has been a work-in-progress since the early 2000’s we are excited to be a part of the first development of this new technology in the South West. Over the next few months our team of researchers and other project partners will be introducing themselves here on the SEI blog, as well as posting updates, activities and our new series ‘Hot Topics’ so stay tuned to find out more.
