Music of Motions and Presence is series of compositions by Federico Visi that make deliberate use of the body movements of the performers.
Federico will be playing electric guitar, together with Lara Jones on saxophone and Marco Frattini on drums and percussion. Their gestures while playing acoustic and electronic instruments will be captured live using motion sensors. These will generate new sounds and affect the timbre of their instruments in real time, adding a new dimension to the performance.
Federico is currently studying for his PhD at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Computer Music Research (ICCMR) at Plymouth University, supported by a Humanities and Performing Arts funded scholarship. His Director of Studies is Professor Eduardo Miranda.
