ASTI have set up the “Just one thing” initiative to provide an alternative approach to supporting teaching staff. It aims to encourage and enable them to get the best out of the DLE, and to explore and use other relevant tools that might enhance their current teaching and learning provision.
Every month there will be a selected “Just One Thing” article in this newsletter, giving hints and tips on a particular tool. In addition to this, the TEL team will be running regular sessions on Wednesday afternoons, between 13:00 – 13:45, focussing on a particular tool or topic (e.g. eSubmissions in Moodle). The sessions will be hands-on, and will include demonstrations and discussion, with an accompanying 2-page printed guide for each topic, as well as online videos. Participants are encouraged to bring along their lunch and/or hot drinks to the sessions. A selection of cold drinks will also be available.
It is hoped that offering this approach to training and information to teaching staff, will help to ease the burden of lack of time, providing an alternative to the longer workshop sessions that cover a broader overview of a topic. Staff can dip in and out of the sessions, both online and face-to-face, as their need arises.
