With the recent upgrade to Moodle, there is now a set of new features and activities available to use within your Moodle courses. Here is a quick overview of the new tools.
More question types
The Quiz activity now has more question types (e.g. Select missing words, Drag and drop into text, etc) offering greater flexibility and the range of questioning options available.
Face-to-Face activity
Face-to-face activities can be used to keep track of in-person trainings which require advance booking. This activity allows staff to set up a series of events that students can self-book on to, e.g. a series of laboratory sessions.
Group Choice activity
Group choice, allows students to enrol themselves in a group within a course. The teacher can setup the groups offered, and the maximum number of students allowed in each group plus whether students can change groups after their initial choice.
OU Blog
The OU Blog activity brings blogging functionality to individual courses. You can have course-wide blogs (everyone in the course posts to the same blog), group blogs, or individual blogs; the latter are useful for assessed activities (where the student is supposed to keep a journal which only they and their tutor can read).
OU Wiki
The OU wiki gives users more options than the standard Moodle wiki tool. It is ideal for collaborative work, as everyone can work on the same document or set of documents.
