End to our student digital champions program (for 2020)

As the new academic terms ramps up, we, reluctantly, say goodbye to our student digital champions:

Back in March (pre Covid-19) we employed 17 students from across the University, as Student Digital Champions. The plan was for the SDC to work with us and their peers to gather feedback on the technologies used in learning and teaching, to produce student help materials direct from a student perspective and to look for future opportunities to work more closely with our student population. The 17 SDCs represented all faculties across the university including first, second, final and postgraduate students.

A selection of the SDCs tasks completed:

  • Production of student help materials (and videos) for Zoom and Panopto including Zoom etiquette guidelines for students.
  • Reviewed and critiqued Digital Education resources such as induction material, Digital Capabilities Student Tool Kit and Jisc discovery tool.
  • Inputting to University wide projects such as the mobile app design.
  • Testing of latest technologies such as ChatBot and Zoom.
  • Evaluation of faculty specific content from a students perspective, such as LinkedIn Learning videos
  • Creation of materials alongside Semester 1+ (student experience) in light of the Covid-19, including videos and help materials.
  • Running 4 x1hours Zoom support sessions for SU sports and society leaders
  • Working alongside DE to produce an extensive knowledge base of help materials

We send out the biggest thank you to our student digital champions who have shown a great deal of professionalism, dedication and willingness to support fellow students.
