New features in PebblePad

This month sees a number of new useful features appearing in PebblePad continuing the trend of improvements we have seen since the release of V5. We have summarised some of the most important improvements below.

Collaboration:
This is a significant improvement which now enables you to collaborate on resources and assets in PebblePad. What does this mean in practice? If you have a workbook that you share with your students it now means you no longer have to be the sole owner of it, as multiple tutors can construct and update it.

(NB: Do NOT change form items when updating a workbook if your students have already started completing it).

To collaborate with someone else: Choose ‘I want to…’ when editing an item, then ‘Share’

Select ‘with people’ and search for the relevant name.

Ensure you check the collaboration box.

Improved embedding:
You can now embed lots more content into PebblePad, building on the existing ability to add YouTube videos. OneDrive, Google Drive, SoundCloud, Vimeo, and much more, can now be added. Find out more here:

Locking Assets:
Assets such as workbooks can now be locked upon submission to an assignment. In order to do this you need to go into ATLAS and then into assignment settings.
If the setting is turned off then assets will be unlocked. Unlocking also takes place if an asset is removed from the assignment. NOTE: the locking is only applied to the asset that is submitted and not to any ‘child’ or ‘linked’ assets. (Locking of ‘child’ and ‘linked’ assets will be introduced in a later update).

Locking Pages:
Locking pages on verification pages within workbooks can be set to ‘lock on verification’. Workbook editors can set a ‘lock on verification’ option against pages in the workbook builder. The lock will be enabled when an assessor verifies that page in ATLAS and releases the feedback (this can be set to happen automatically). The page can be unverified and in turn the lock will be removed and the user will be able to continue to edit the asset. NB: the locking is only applied to the asset that is submitted and not to any child or linked assets. (Locking of child and linked assets will be introduced in a later update).

Word Count limits:
It is now possible to put limits on text fields. To do this click on the text field when editing a resource. Then go to properties on the right hand side and check the box for word count. You can set a minimum and maximum number of words.
