Turnitin – originality checking tool

Turnitin is an Internet-based originality checking tool which allows documents to be compared with content on the Internet, in  journals and an archive of previously submitted works for any matching content.

The system is based entirely online allowing users to access it from any Internet enabled computer, anywhere and at any time.

This is a formative tool that makes it easy for staff to work with students to review their citations and referencing as an aid to learning good academic practice.

Workshops for staff are available on how to use Turnitin. Please email us at asti@plymouth.ac.uk to register your interest.

Students wishing to use this technology to check their own work must first ask their teacher. only once their teacher has set it up as part of their course will students be able to use this technology.
