The Wallflower Project – A Plymouth Splash

The Wallflower Project is continuing to create murals across the city. Over the summer a pedestrian subway running under the St Budeaux bypass at Ferndale Road was painted in collaboration with Years 5 and 6 students from Weston Mill Community Primary Academy. Entitled A Plymouth Splash, the mural was facilitated by a Plymouth City Council Community Grant and the Woseley Trust, with contributions from Community Connections and Rabart Decorators. The design and execution of the underwater-themed “subway” mural was overseen by Dr Jody Patterson, Associate Professor of Art History, and LOCI, a local art collective managed by University of Plymouth Fine Art alumnus Llyr Davies; the collective includes early-career artists Joe Allen, Francesca Hawkesworth, and Andy Meredith. At the end of September, on the occasion of the Plymouth Art Weekender, LOCI collaborated with RIO on their 1000 Makers initiative to paint the hoardings of the Ocean Studios Courtyard, Cooperage Building, Royal William Yard.
